Your post interests me because my Marion County, Illinois families migrated to Boise, Idaho, then Salem and The Dalles, Oregon. This may be a coincidence as well, but does anyone know of some specific reason why families may have migrated that way? Thanks! He had a brother who d. ca. 1875 Salem, OR., no known descendants or wife. He had four sisters, so there would have been surname changes. One, Anna, I have been unable to trace passed marriage in The Dalles, OR. ca. 1880's to BOYD.
