Cheryl I got the basically the same form letter from Cliff. On top of that he cashed my check kept the money. I have been told that it depends on who reads your letter on whether you get the info or not. I was told the money was kept for their time bother. ----- Original Message ----- From: Cheryl Rothwell To: [email protected] Sent: 5/24/01 1:31:52 PM Subject: [ILMARION] Marriage Records I received the following email query: ...a form letter from Marion County Clerk and Recorder, Cliff Neudecker. The first line of that form states: "According to Illinois law, our birth, death and marriage records are closed to the public, however, member of any Illinois Genealogical Society may check indexes only to 1916." The lady wants a marriage record from 1907 or 1908. I really don't believe she has a firm date. However, I do not understand why she would not be allowed a copy should she know the date. Is she misunderstanding something or has Illinois law changed that much since I moved out of state?
