Hi everyone, The Illinois records, at least up until 1916 or later, are not closed to genealogists. Almost all of us have an LDS library somewhere fairly close to where we live. Go to this website: http://www.familysearch.com Click on the tab labeled LIBRARY, then click on Family History Library Catalog, then click on Place Search, then type in Marion - Illinois. The following marriages are available on microfilm for us to look at and each film is $3.25. You can also click on FAMILY HISTORY CENTERS to find out where the nearest library is to you. Marion County (Illinois). County Clerk (Main Author) Microfilm of original record in the Marion County courthouse, Salem, Illinois. Salt Lake City : Filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1976 Marriage records, 1821-1934 Index to v. A-E 1821-1910 - FHL US/CAN Film 1010514 Marriages v. Birth records, 1878-1916 Marion County (Illinois). County Clerk Death records, 1877-1915 Marion County (Illinois). County Clerk Death records, 1878-1915 Marion County (Illinois). County Clerk There are also films of all of the probate records, wills and land sales and others things. The Illinois State Archives has death records from 1916 to 1945. IRAD holds many records also. I know that the people at the courthouse should be more helpful, as they are in other IL counties, but if they aren't we do have other resources. Jan Creek
Jan, Thank you very much for this information. I had no idea how to search for what might be available at the FHC's. Obviously, I have more resources available to me locally than I thought. Thanks, again Cheryl cardinelblue wrote: > Hi everyone, > The Illinois records, at least up until 1916 or later, are not closed to > genealogists.
