Hi, Martha! I'm trying to find someone that knows of, or connect up with someone from my line of the Howells! ;+) My greatgrandfather was John J. Howell. He was born 1865 in TN. He had a brother, Jesse J. Howell born 1860 in TN. John was married to Barbara Ellen Porter. Jesse was married to Lucy Ann Allsup. John and Barbara Ellen had 5 children: Elma Agnes b. 1-15-1892 d. 1-22-1893; Lucy Ellen b. 12-19-1894; Martin Elva b. 2-8-1896; Bird Alvin 10-11-1899 d. March 1995; Paul 2-12-1902. Martin Elva was my grandfather. He was married to Effie Snow 9-16-1916. They had 9 children, some of whom are still living in Salem, IL right now. '+)(4 of them) The deceased names are Ervin "Bud"; Bessie Leona (Gaston); Nora Leolla (Hayes) (my mother); Juanita Louella (died young, age 13, of scarlet fever); one baby girl stillborn sometime between 1931 and 1940.
