Hi. You maybe running into the same problem I ran into - 2 different Smith families not related. my great grandfather, Charles Monroe Smith married Martha Smith. Charles was related to Solomon Smith & I was told that Martha was related to Britton & Mordecai Smith, in some way(still trying to prove it). They were the sons of Abraham Smith, but don't know to much about him except he followed his sons to Marion Co in 1831 from NC. I was unable to find anything on your Mary in my records, though: When I looked through Brinkerhoff's History of Marion County, Ill, I found a SS Branch mentioned on page 710, under Levi Branch. His wife, Elizabeth Smith is mentioned as being born in Pa 4 Aug 1806. On page 694, there is mention of an Elizabeth Wallis who married John C. Smith & lived in Clinton County. On page 412, there is mention of a Martha Bryan marrying a Homer Smith, they had 2 girls before her death, one was named Mary. Who was known as Mrs Mollie Webster & a widow for several years. Thats all I could find in Brinkerhoff's History of Marion County, Ill. I don't think any of it really help you though. > [Original Message] > From: <Buffalo234@aol.com> > To: <ILMARION-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: 6/4/2003 11:37:35 PM > Subject: [ILMARION] civil war letters from William A.
