    3. Does anyone know more about the John Foster that William was writing to? I have a great great great grandfather by that name who moved from the Marion Co. area to Mo by 1860, but his daughter married my great great grandfather from Marion Co. in Jerseyville. My John Foster was married to a Mary and had a daughter Mary. There are (or were) pictures of Civil War soldiers named Foster from Marion Co. at www.ancientfaces.com.
