Thanks sid. What is the location of the Marshall Creek/Fredonia Cemetary? And how large is it? Can I walk it and find William Dorris/Nancy Wright? I also do not know the Burial place for Lucinda Dorris.I know that she is supposed to have died in Marion County. Israel married Margaret Chandler and they moved to Longton, Elk County, Kansas. He is buried there, and I assume Margaret is also. On an earlier message, I had incorrectly stated that he had married a Belcher. I had confused it with one of your Belcher names in Bates County Missouri. My great grandparents were George Washington Payton and Luetta Belle Davis. Luetta is the daughter of William Dorris and Nancy Wright.Luetta and George were married in Bates County. Do you have any idea why they all moved to Bates county? Do you know of any kind of Mormon connection? Do you have anymore information on the Wright line. The name of Elijah Wright is new for me.William and Nancy Wright Dorris came from Sumner County Tennessee via Carrol County Tennessee. My Peyton family was also in Sumner County. The spelling changed to Payton when they went through Harrison County Indiana. I don't know if Luetta met George in Illinois or in Missouri. I have seen no information that says George was ever in Illinois. But they ended up in Ogden Utah, and I still don't know why. That is why I asked about the Mormon connection. Thank you Glenn Payton
So Nancy and William had another daughter Luetta? Or is she the daughter of Israel Davis/Lucinda Dorris? > From: EGPAYTON@aol.com > Reply-To: ILMARION-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Thu, 25 Sep 2003 22:29:42 EDT > To: ILMARION-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [ILMARION] Dorris, Davis > Resent-From: ILMARION-L@rootsweb.com > Resent-Date: Thu, 25 Sep 2003 20:29:39 -0600 > > I also do not know the Burial place for Lucinda Dorris.I know that she is > supposed to have died in Marion County. The Marshall Creek cemetery is in sect 19 of Tonti township. The easy way to find it is go north from Sandoval ( approximately 4 3/4 miles) on US 51 to Ferrydale rd and east 4 miles to the church. The road ends at the front door of the church. The cemetery is not that large and can be walked. I have found several graves there easily. It has been walked and there is a listing at the historical society that will give you an approximate location. Ray --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
