    3. Cathy, Not sure but I may have already sent this info to you awhile back. I have Sarah Elizabeth Landrum, daughter of Reuben Landrum & Nancy Bibb. Sarah was born in VA 11Nov1825. She married John Abner Wilkinson 18Nov1841 in Christian Co, KY. They moved to Meacham Twp., Marion County sometime after 1850. John and Sarah are both buried in Cockerell Cemetery in Meacham Twp. There may be no connection at all between Sarah Elizabeth and Mary Lourene but just thought I would mention it. I don't know very much about Sarah. Of her parents I have nothing further than their names. I don't know of any siblings, but there may very well be some. Cemetery books Hi to all you wonderful people that offer to do look ups. I have a "very big brick wall" and I would be so very appreciative if someone could help. My great grandmother Mary Lourene LANDRUM b.1832 in TN moved to Fayette County and later to Marion Co. along with her parents. (possibly Mary and John?) Mary Lourene married Thomas C. WILLIAMS in 1850 and after he died she married David HANNA in 1877 in Marion County. I have never been able to find any trace of any LANDRUMs in Marion County. Are there any in the cemeteries? Thank you so much for any help...I've been on this search for 10 years. Very Sincerely, Cathy Whitney in Fountain Valley, CA

    3. Hi, Thanks so much for this info on counties...very interesting. Ok, please lets go with this LANDRUM census info.... does anyone know where Henry or any of this family are buried? Maybe by the process of elimination, I will find my great grandmother's parents. She could the Mary listed, the age is right. All help will be deeply appreciated! 3. Dear Cheryl Helm and most helpful listers, Thank you so much for the info regarding the marriages of David HANNA. And yes, my great grandmother was his 3rd "Mary Marriage". However, I am having one heck of a time connecting her to parents. Every lead and resource ends in frustration. I just need that one piece of paper linking her with a mom and dad. Thanks again, I really appreciate your help! Cathy Whitney in So. California Searching for LANDRUM, WILLIAMS, HANNA, PHELPS, FEATHERLING and BOCZKIEWICZ in Marion, Fayette, and Jefferson Counties.

Hope this is of great help to you in your research. I only have two sets of great great grandparents, & a great grandfather (who I plan to be buried next to) that are immediate family buried in Evergreen, but this cemetery book opened many doors for me. I would strongly suggest you consider ordering it from Marion Co. H.& G. Society--you will find others through marriages, etc. as I did, I'm sure. Wouldn't be surprised if great granddad, John Michael Brenner didn't know and either sell lumber to or build homes for many of your family between 1870 and his death in 1895. He owned the lumberyard in Kinmundy and g. grandma Dora continued it for many years after his early death. It's great that so many years later we can help each other again! I'm sure that pleases them greatly when they look down on us. Good luck! I would hope that these would be posted on a permanent website for posterity. *** Marion Brimberry has entrusted me with a folder of Civil War letters by William A. Smith and has asked me to type one letter every day or so and post it to this newsgroup. I have typed the letter true to the spelling and grammar of the letters in my possession. If I add any errors of my own, please forgive me. David Thomson ***

    3. Hi. You maybe running into the same problem I ran into - 2 different Smith families not related. my great grandfather, Charles Monroe Smith married Martha Smith. Charles was related to Solomon Smith & I was told that Martha was related to Britton & Mordecai Smith, in some way(still trying to prove it). They were the sons of Abraham Smith, but don't know to much about him except he followed his sons to Marion Co in 1831 from NC. I was unable to find anything on your Mary in my records, though: When I looked through Brinkerhoff's History of Marion County, Ill, I found a SS Branch mentioned on page 710, under Levi Branch. His wife, Elizabeth Smith is mentioned as being born in Pa 4 Aug 1806. On page 694, there is mention of an Elizabeth Wallis who married John C. Smith & lived in Clinton County. On page 412, there is mention of a Martha Bryan marrying a Homer Smith, they had 2 girls before her death, one was named Mary. Who was known as Mrs Mollie Webster & a widow for several years. Thats all I could find in Brinkerhoff's History of Marion County, Ill. I don't think any of it really help you though. > [Original Message] > From: <Buffalo234@aol.com> > To: <ILMARION-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: 6/4/2003 11:37:35 PM > Subject: [ILMARION] civil war letters from William A. 1. [ILMARION] civil war letters from William A. SMITH
    2. In a message dated 06/05/2003 3:40:02 AM, ILMARION-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: << Marion Brimberry has entrusted me with a folder of Civil War letters by William A. Smith and has asked me to type one letter every day or so and post it to this newsgroup. I have typed the letter true to the spelling = and grammar of the letters in my possession. >> This letter is incredible! How wonderful of you to share it with us. I wonder if anyone has more information on this William A. Smith or his wife? In 1860 Illinois census there is a baby William T. SMITH, age 1, living with my 2nd great grandparents, the Rev. SS BRANCH and wife Elizabeth (Smith) Branch. They are age 58 and 57. Their daughter Mary was age 18 living with them in 1855 census in neighboring Wayne County but she is not there 1860. She would have been 23. Many questions here. Maybe she married William SMITH and for some reason was unable to care for the baby so her parents took it? Mary is not listed in her father's will in 1862, so she must have died and there is no further mention of the child until in 1913 when a Mr. and Mrs. Wm Smith attended the funeral of Mary's brother in Centralia. Again, thanks for sharing this letter. Carolyn Pray for our troops, and Remember, you have a friend in Oklahoma!

I know they came from Bavaria, probably late 1850's or early 1860's. First record of land purchase I found was by George in 1867 in Kinmundy. So far the earliest census they were on was there in 1870. Both died in 1895. I am having a terrible time trying to find out exactly when they emigrated, "their boat", where they landed, and naturalization records. Since JM was only 24 in 1870, I think he might have automatically become a citizen if George applied. I recently found a George L with correct widow's name in the Civil War Pension Records (Union). Am going to write off for copies and see if it's him. He might have joined Union Army when he arrived and he & family would have automatically have become immediate citizens. He was born in 1820, so would have been only 41 when war began. Can you see what kind of guidance/help they can give on checking out naturalization? 1870 census says George was a US citizen. Thanks again, and I'll gladly reimburse you for any expense. Have you ever done any research for your family on Dolores Mobley's website? www.ford-mobley.com. She has roots in Marion Co. and her website has a wealth of genealogy information in that area. Check out her "gleanings" from the old newspapers, they are wonderful and I found a number of "snippets" of info of a number of my family members. You can search "gleanings" by name. She's put a huge amount of time and effort into it. All our Marion Co. fellow researchers should check it out. Hope everyone will see this. 1. Re: [ILMARION] Landrum/Hanna/...Holton
    2. For those searchers of Centralia, as you may or may not know...Centralia is a somewhat geographic oddity. The actual city is in two separate counties, Marion and Clinton. Also we border with Washington and Jefferson. I found some Lundrums located in Jefferson county, which you can reach in a few minutes by car from the center of town. In the 1850 Census: HENRY LUNDRUM 46 TENN FARMER NANCY J 40 KY NELSON L 18 IL MARY DEEDS (?) 16 IL MARY LUNDRUM 17 KY ELIZABETH M 4 IL JEMIMA A. 2 IL HASTIN D. (?) 4/12 IL I dont know if this is a connection or not, but thought I would throw it out there for you. Note to Nancy Shouse: I addtionally found William D. Holton in the 1860 census living in Jefferson county with a centralia P.O

    3. Tom, I have checked Book 2, Kinmundy, Meachum, Alma & Omega cemeteries and this name is not listed. Sorry, you might try searching for Catholic Archdiocese-IL. I found it just the other day--has lots of info & I found a website for Catholic Church in Kinmundy (missed it on my trip there last fall and have sent them email requesting birth/baptismal records for my grandfather & his sister. Hope I'll get something back soon. 3. Cathy, I checked my book 2 (Kinmundy, Meachum, Alma & Omega Cemeteries. There is a Thomas C., but no M.L.
