I just got my answer about attachments. They're not allowed because of the burden on the system. If you want a copy of the listing for the Courson cemetery you'll have to email me directly courson@vaxxine.com Steve Courson
Hello everyone, Since we're on the topic of Courson cemeteries, if you have Courson ancestors you need to go to this site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/oh/tombpics/licking/bowlinggreentwp/courso ncem/coursoncem.htm How these photos came to be is quite unbelievable. Last week someone on this list asked me a question about the Courson cemetery in Marion Co., Illinois, which got me thinking about a letter I rec'd in 1979 from someone in Ohio telling me about a Courson cemetery in Licking Co., Ohio. At the time, she said it was grown over and the headstones were fallen over and most broken and unreadable. Anyway, just for the fun of it I went on Ebay and searched for anything on Licking Co., and came up with a book on cemeteries. I won the book, and the seller emailed me on Friday to ask if I had family in Licking Co....I told him I did back in the early to mid-1800's and that I had heard about this cemetery but had never seen photos. He emailed me back and said if I could give him an idea of where it was, he'd go find it for me and take photos! Well, lo and behold, I gave him some rough directions and on Saturday he emailed me and said it was the most difficult cemetery he had ever had to find, but he found it and took photos and posted them to the above site. Peter Courson and his wife Nancy Layton are the first two stones shown, and they look in pretty good shape. First chance I get I'm buying this gentleman his favorite drink. What a lucky turn of events.
Sandy, Sorry but I don't have anything on Earl Courson. Perhaps Gwen or Steve would have something? Hi Steve I am wondering if there is 2 Courson Cemeteries possibly 3. The reson I ask is because at one time the Elder Cematery was known as the lder/Courson Cemetery and then is you go past elder going south to the curve and instead of making that curve go left instead and go a little ways down tha road off in the woods is a little cemetery that everyone tells me is courson cemetery and now this one you are ytalking about . I haven't been to a cemetery in about 3 months so I am going to go try to find yours tomorrow after work.. I didn't think there was hardly a cemetery I hadn't walked in Marion County but guess we learn something new every day. Now I am anxious to find this one. I have several photos of stones in the Courson Cemetery that I would be glad to share. Would it be permissable to post them to the list? Gwen
I'm interested in locating the burial places of Earl and Nondas Smith Courson as well as burial places of the parents and grandparents of Earl Courson. Earl d. 20 Jul 1942 and Nondas d. 7 Dec 1929. Earl s/o David I. and Martha Courson, Nondas d/o of Albert and Eva Nichols Smith. David I. Courson s/o Andrew and Eliza Rotrock Courson. Also, Anna Courson b. 1881 m. abt 1905 Harry Nichols. A copy of the transcription for those buried in Courson Cemetery would be greatly appreciated. Hi Shari, Courson cemetery is just east of Farina. Coming from the West on Rt. 185, take Rt. 37 just before Farina, heading south. The first street to your left is South Crossing. Rod, Ron, Shari and others! You people are going make me get to work. The gedcom that I have in the computer only contains my direct line and very few siblings. I mainly use it to print a tree for my grandkids when they need one for school when they are studying their"roots". Some of their teachers are impressed and some are not because all they had to do is call grandpa. :-) I will be glad to share it when it would be meaningful to more people. Someone rattle my cage later in the winter when I have some time to work on it. Thanks J. Ray Young --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
