    3. I too appreciate the ALEXANDER marriages sent by Sandy. Abner Jolliff Alexander is part of my ancestry. The marriage to Martha Jane Hawkins was a 2nd marriage for both bride and groom. Her first marriage was to Lewis Hawkins. I thought that her maiden name was Duff, but this marriage information indicates Dove. It is interesting that Eliza Farmer was a witness. Abner's brother, James H. Alexander married an Eliza Jane Farmer, but by 1878, both Eliza and James were dead. Curious who the Eliza Farmer of 1878 was. Thanks Sandy!! Dot

    2. Richard Bollhorst
    3. Hi Gale Found this in one of my research books and thought I would send part of it to ou Fron the book SUTTON'S POINT 1829 WHO CAME FIRST pg. 15-18 Excerpt from this article reads; It is unfortunate that the McCawleys left us no wrtten record of those early days (1810 - 1816) but that is nit true cincerning the GOBLE family who also arrived in 1860. In 1811, Stephen Arnold , moved into Illnois from Kentucky. He came too a site on the Big Walbash River about 5 miles south of Vincennes on the Illinois shore not far from Fort Compton. It was there that is daughter, Nancy, met George GOBLE, wh was the son of another revolutionary War Veteran, Benjamin GOBLE. In 1812 George GOBLE and Nancy Arnold were married in Fort Compton and it was in that same Fort where Benjamin GOBLE was born October 17, 1813, the first born of George and Nancy. In the fall of 1816, George Goble moved to what we now know as Clay County. He went to work for McCawley but soon had trouble and was unable to get along with his employer.and in the spring of 1817 moved to a site about 2 miles west of the river. This would be very near the present location of Clay City Cemetery In the spring of 1826, George GOBLE sold out to Crawford Lewis and moved to a farm near St. Louis. In 1827 the GOBLE family moved to Missouri and finally in April 1829, moved to Galena, Illinois. In October 1829, George GOBLE died of natural causes, leaving 16 year old Benjamin GOBLE the responsibility of caring for his mother. The county seat was eventualy called Louisville, in honor of Crawford Lewis but it just as well could have been GOBLESVILLE. If this is your Gobles, let me know and I will send you the whole 3 page article. It is a very interesting and informative article. Sandy

IL. They married in Clinton Co. and were there in 1850. After 1850 they were in Marion Co. Martha's parents were Allen and Susannah Reed Burton. Susannah was widowed in 1840. In 1848 she married James Jolliff (born abt. 1790) who became a widower in 1847. I give his approximate date of birth to distinguish him from lots of other James Jolliffs.

    3. Delores, I have no Hershbergers in my data. I don't have Charles Henry Holstlaw either, but I don't have the generations complete to Charles Henry. HENRY was a "good" first name apparently in the Holstlaw families, as I have 5 named Henry. My connection to Holstlaw goes back to my g.g.g.grandmother, Catherine JOLLIFF ALEXANDER's sister, Jahoda JOLLIFF who married Enoch D. HOLSTLAW in 1814. Thanks, Dot
