A lady from Morgan Co.,IL, said she found an old envelope, addressed to Frances Thompson in care of Captain William Thompson, Bethel, IL, She wrote this, to the family about 1954, she said he lived 3 mile from Bluffs and 9 miles from Meredosia. She said my gr grandfather Radley liked to go with him to dig herbs for medicine. She said he was a Sea going man. My Grandfather was born 1841. Some place I read their were Thompsons who were Ship Builders. Along the Mississippi River,( I think). In an Indiana Genealogy Magazine, I read and I still have, an article of a sea Captain Thompson who brought a family to America. And he settled on a farm in Indiana. I took this information to Dodge City, KS to the LDS they put the information on the Internet, no other information was found. I think the year was 1818, I hoping he was the father of my Washington and Robert and Mary. My thanks to Ginger,Judy, and Sara, any more question please write.
