I was awake most of the night, th= inking about this. Their is a dear lady, who sent this information to me sev= eral years ago. A lady from Morgan County, sent this information to th= e family. She said she found and old yellow envelope addressed to Fran= ces Thompson, in % of Captain William Thompson, Bethel,IL who was living 3 m= iles from Bluffs and about 9 miles from Meredosia. She said that she never d= id see him, but he like to dig for herbs, for medicine and my grandfather Ra= dley, liked to go with him, my grandfather was born in 1841. This lady said=20= Captain Thompson was sea going man. I did not give this much thought,=20= I wondered if maybe he could have be in the service.<BR> <BR> I also had read where their a was a Family of Thompsons that were Ship build= ers, along the Mississippi river. (I think)<BR> <BR> In an Indiana Genealogy magazine I found a Captain William Thompson who brou= ght a family to America it also gave the peoples names. He settled in Indian= a as a farmer, I think it was 1818. I have this article but I could not lay=20= my hands on it this morning. I took this information with me to LDS in Dodge= City, they put it on the computer, but could not find any thing regarding W= M. When I find someone maybe who is the fathe= r of Robert T. and Washington Thompson I check the age. Robert T. Thompson w= as born in Westmoreland, PA in 1813, this is the correct date, he died in 18= 94. in KS. Washington Thompson b. about 1821 in Nicholas County, KY per his=20= CW papers. I think he died in late, 1895 or early 1896. The CW people could=20= not find him to let him know his pension was to be raised. I think he was al= l ready dead. I have checked for a death certificate St Louis, MO, Arkansas,= Scott County and Morgan County, IL.<BR> <BR> The way Robert made the middle initial, it looked like a L, but on his legal= papers in Pratt KS.it was a T. <BR> <BR> When I lived in KS.
