I just received a wonderful message concerning my Richard Thompson who may be somehow linked to your Robert,but am not sure. I am sending you an attached family file. My Richards father was John Thompson and his wife was Ann Garris. Rober Peck who sent me the message said that Johns father was James. James also had a brother Robert L. Thompson who may have been names after his father. All Bob Peck knew was that James' mothers name was Mrs. Jane Thompson born in Ireland. What is interesting enough is that the Thompson family of Virginia,Cass County,Illinois came in from Pennsylvannia. Our Richard Thompson was born in Harrisburg,says so on his marriage certificate to Josephine Nolden,who was my husbands great grandmother. So Richard was my husbands great grandfather. We went to Beardstown to look for a headstone for Richard,but since he was buried in a Potters Field we could not locate anything. I still can't believe that Bob Peck found this out. I always had a feeling that the Thompsons in Cass Cty were somehow related to our Richard,just could not put my finger on it. The documentation looked like to me that he was American Germ. but in fact it says American born. There was another Thompson family that could have been related as well, a Richard Thompson who married Lucinda Taylor. I believe he was born in Sangamon County,IL. There is a website for this particular Thompson family you may want to check it out,because I really don't know if your Robert may have been the father to James or not. So please try to locate it,because I would have to try to find it and it may take all night. If I find it I will send it to you.
