    3. I live out of state, so can't help with the pictures, but I sure would love it if someone could take a picture of my great aunt and uncle's (Clem and Rickie Dahman and their daughter Edith Dahman) gravestones in Diamond Grove Cem. in Jacksonville, IL. My mom and I went round in circles and almost missed the Burgoo in Arenzville trying to find the gravestones. We had the grave numbers, and I tried to draw a map from what I found at the Jacksonville Public Library, but never could find their stones. I have a picture of Hie KRUSE's tombstone in Cass County, but I don't have a scanner. My surnames are: DYER and KRUSE. >From: RWRidenour@aol.com >Reply-To: ILMAGA-L@rootsweb.com >To: ILMAGA-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [ILMAGA] Fw: New Online & a question for List Subscribers >Date: Tue, 30 Jan 2001 23:28:54 EST > >I think it would be a good idea. 3. Folks, could we change the subject line to reflect the contents of your message? Lots of us just scan these subject lines and only read what we have time for, so if your subject line doesn't reflect what is in your message, you're missing out on an opportunity to get your message read- not only in the present, but also in the future, when someone does a search in the archives. 2. Pat That would be wonderful - was just wishing (to myself) that there were more list members living nearby who would be willing to "adopt a cemetery" for documentation. I know that some of the old stones we read back in the early 80s have deteriorated further - some are impossible to read at this point. Think about which cemetery you'd like to work on - you made my day! ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: [ILMAGA] Fw: New Online & a question for List Subscriber Author: ILMAGA-L@rootsweb.com at ~Internet Date: 1/30/2001 10:28 AM I have a digital camera with color or B/W options. 3. The Texas Wise County site has done this with digital photo's. They are great about helping. I can send the address if you want. I had thought to do this in Pike if I ever get a digital camera. Another thing we were thinking about and may work for you also is to have someone at school do a cemetery at a time as a community service project. I don't know if it would fly or not but its worth looking into. Go to the TXWISE county site and see what they have done and then contact them. They have done most of their graveyards now and will really give you some good hints on how to display them , what program they are using, what errors they made to beginning with ect. 3. Well, you know it's a great idea to me. Went to the cemetery site and just by chance I scrolled to Hezekiahs, but it wasn't marked as having a photo,so I clicked it anyway and low and behold there it was. Wow!You're good at this Shirley. Maybe if you marked it with (Stone) than everyone would know that it had a headstone photo just as you did with the (Obit).I think it's great, you get marker inscription, photo and possibly and obit in one site. 3. Hi Shirley, YES! YES! YES! Please do ask for donations for headstone pictures and put them on the pages. Please see the cemeteries I have on my Huerfano County page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~cohuerfa/cemeteries.htm Last summer I spent almost every weekend out filming the cemeteries, ended up with over 3,000 photos, and still more to go. Hope to finish up this Spring. To date, all the photos are not up yet, still working on that. Someday these stones will be gone due to deterioration, vandals, etc. So it is a very worthwhile endeavor to have the photos of them online. My Bonds family came from Morgan County and unfortunately I don't have a single headstone photo of any of them, and I have never been there. Someday...
