    3. I just revised the Greene Co IL Cemetery page a few days ago. The URL is http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmaga/greene/cemeteries/index.html So one needs to re-bookmark. It can be reached from the Link on the Greene County page on MAGA, also. Mary Ann At 08:47 PM 04/16/2001 -0500, you wrote: >Has the URL for the Greene Co. 3. What timeframe are you looking for? Were they a German Family or Irish Family? I have German First Evangelical Lutheran Book if they were German. My husbands family were realted to the German Thompson/Tomson family that came up from PA Harrisburg to East St Louis and Richard Thompson married Josephine Nolden in Cass County. Richard died 1887,son Clifford Frederick Thompson born to the posthumous Richard Thompson and Josephine Nolden.1887. Richard noted on his marriage certificate that he was of German decent and that his fathers name was John and that his mothers name was Anna Garris. I found a Adelhaide Thompson in the First Evangelical Lutheran Records, but we don't know who she was? Please advise me if you are looking for a german Family or Irish Family, both were living in the area in the 1800s. I can forward you to the Irish Thompsons. Bios: Klintworth, Shaffer Note: I've moved the Morgan County Cemetery records to a separate page (there is a link on the index page) - as I intend to continue to update listings, add obits and pictures, felt the index page would become too cumbersome to navigate with all the cemeteries listed singly on the index page. Easier to move these few now than to move many later. When you get to the cemetery page, just scroll down to the name of the cemetery you seek (another bit of info - the cemeteries are listed by multiple names if they've been known by more than one name; for example Jacksonville East, East Cemetery, Jacksonville City Cemetery). Until I've updated and moved them, many are still on the Morgan County page with links to them on the MAGA cemetery page - they might be a tad slower to load until I have them moved. Am hoping those of you out there who have tombstone pictures from one of the cemeteries in the MAGA counties will share same.....the more you share, the fewer to take and the quicker I can get them updated and moved. As I move them to the MAGA page, am including any obits I have.........notice I haven't jumped on any of the big ones yet.....smile. If any of the list members feel like typing, I have hundreds and hundreds which need to be done before they can go online and be linked to the cemetery readings.

    3. I hate to keep bringing this site to your attention - but traffic is low right now, and I think that the subscribers to this group need to be aware of "genealogy" sites (and I use the word loosely) that may not be in their best interest. This "service" is on its 4th or 5th ISP (Internet Service Provider) this year. They keep getting dumped because they advertise by SPAM. Their service claims to be "The Web's most versatile "Award Winning" collection of genealogical databases." In fact, the site is a collection of links to other websites that people offer for free. They also have a negative report at the Des Moines, Iowa BBB, to wit: "Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau due to unanswered complaint(s)." This can be verified at: http://www.ancestordetective.com/watchdog.htm#Warning If you get an unsolicited email from them, report it to: abuse@lighthost.com If you get tired of me talking about these people, let me know - but it grates on me that they charge to use databases that so many of us have worked so hard to develop.

On the Anderson Funeral Home records you have posted on the site I found where Madison Goodpaasture bought a coffin for " Wife" and one for "babe". I finally know where she died and when. Also a Benjamin Shartzer est. bought one for him. If anyone on this list knows how to get a copy of these records, I would love to hear from you. Also anyone researching Goodpasture, Shutzer/Shartzer, Jewitt, Cullen, Please email and let me know. I have a lot of information to share. 3. I've brought this up before, but there is now a second site that you should investigate very carefully before purchasing. The previous one I mentioned: http://www.familydiscovery.com and now: http://www.genealogy-express.com Both of these sites charge either a one time charge for unlimited access or a monthly fee. What they provide is a batch of links to pages that are already free. For example, they link to the Illinois Civil War site and many other pages put up by county, state and private genealogy sites. Both originate outf of Cedar Rapids, IA, and they claim NOT to be related. However, both of them have used the same address at one time or another. If you are thinking about subscribing to these - or any other pay genealogy site - it might pay you to check with the list before doing so. Jack Cox
