There has been some confusion on one of the Rootsweb county genealogy sites regarding my email address which has caused quite a few rather serious problems. I'd like to clarify that I have two valid email addresses: 3twins@sssnet.com and also auntnanne@hotmail.com. I am not associated with other entries or postings from another Pat Morrison using a different email address. I am researching PERCY, HINTHORNE (HINTHORN) and SEAMAN in Macoupin and surrounding counties. Hi everybody---just wanted to let everyone know that the Sang. Co. Gen. Society will be at Sulphur Springs Cemetery, south of Loami, Illinois on Saturday morning. We are doing readings and inventorying of Sulphur Springs to update our files and make a new publication. We are out of this publication, so we feel this will be a perfect time to update. We welcome all to stop by and give a hand. We will meet at the square in Loami at 8:00 a.m. Bring water, snacks and a hat, because this is a pretty open cemetery and could be hot. There are trees to rest in so you could put in a lawn chair or blanket. There will be members from the Wimmer Cemetery project there who could tell you about there experience in restoration and give information on the "how to's" of starting a project like it. We plan to have a great time. Come for an hour or stay as long as you want. We will appreciate the help. E-mail me if you have questions. Hope to see you. We now have 2,448 pages online on the ILMAGA Web site!!! A breaker for the goof below <g>! SCOTT COUNTY: 1880 Mortality Schedule has been corrected. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmaga/scott/1880mort.html In our haste to get resources online, we overlooked the "sorting errors" that were made when alpabetizing the surnames. Geez...we even had a man dying from "childbed fever"...<g>. If you have used this before, better go back and try again, you will no doubt get some different information. Sorry about that, but guess we are allowed to make errors once in awhile, as we are human, right???? One page out of the 2,448 pages online is a pretty good record!! Also its time to announce that I am no longer webmaster for MAGA. I have given the job to Shirley, who has picked up on the HTML really fast and doing a great job. I will be in the background helping out, doing lookups, etc., as well as redecorating the pages come the next holidays this fall. And I will remain as this Mail List Adminstratror. So any new material you might have to put online for the Obits; Newspaper; Photo Album pages, send to Shirley. Each page will give you her address for submitting. Mary Ann, Could you tell me if this church still exists and if they have records that are searchable ? Thanks, Marion Baker
Forwarding the URL for the Alton Telegraph Newspaper (Madison County) sent to me by Al Handling. They now are putting full OBITS online and I am sure this includes surrounding Counties. I see the KNIGHT surname, which I have seen around our List, just in the last few days. Also, would like to know if anyone is researching the WISER surname in Macoupin? I have a gal who has a funeral card for Abraham Wiser and wants to get in contact with anyone researching that surname. He died in 1946 and buried in Mayfield Cem., Carlinville. You may contact Movita at: "movita@ntin.net" Alton Telegraph covered the floods in Staunton from yesterdays downpours with a picture of all that rain. I understand Carlinville and Carrollton got lots of that rain too, all at once. I am up in Sangamon County where the rains were hit and miss.....we got missed and we need it badly, ground is cracking. Wish Macoupin/Greene could have shared that with Sangamon, but then I imagine they wish that too <grin> Mary Ann >From: BigAl3765@aol.com >Date: Sat, 29 Jul 2000 04:58:38 EDT >Subject: Check out The Telegraph >To: makaylor@npwt.net >X-Mailer: AOL 5.0 for Windows sub 119 > > <A HREF="http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?brd=1719">Click here: The >Telegraph</A> > >Check out the Telegraph Obits. I have been researching for the past two years on familiy members in Illinois,Ohio,Kentucky, and Indiana and have help post numerous photos and archives for the rootsweb folks. Most of the families that I have been researching vigorously have been the Nolden/Nolde,Thompson/Thomson,Kenedy/Kennedy,McLain/McLean/McClain/McLane and have been researching the Weston family of Philadelphia for the past year and a half. Most of these families came from abroad during the 19th century and port of entry was Philadelphia,PA. Majority of these families moved out west to gain a better life. Alot of archives were distroyed during the great fire and the census was destroyed. Hopeing to retrieve vital information that only you may know. If you have bible records, letters, photos, obits of any family members that came through Philadelphia,PA and would like to record their migration and whereabouts, please don't hesitate "Now is the time". If you happen to know of any vitals and wish to submit them to the page, please email us. We would love to see more records coming in and photos, they always help, because they give us a face with a name. If you have any headstone photos in the Philadelphia,PA area they are encouraged as well. A welcome break of pace, go back and remember when, see forward below. And this isn't all that far back, not in my world anyway <g> as I can go back even further. Something for our descendants to view 50 or more years from now with more interest. Have you ever thought about setting down and writing about your days of growing up and what times were like, what games you played, etc.? I have done that and continue adding to it every once in awhile. In fact, a granddaughter has used my narrative already in a class at school. Something to think about and add to your genealogy collections. This was sent to me by Shirley Williams. Think it is cute, plus gives us the incentive to label those pictures we have today. The short quote at the end is Shirley's signature, I think, and I believe it is worthy of passing on too. In that case, I will always be around <grin> (but somehow kind of doubt that, darn it!!!).
