Which Catholic Church was in existence in Fosterburg in 1840? I think Augustus was killed in the Civil War and is buried in the National Cemetery in Vicksburg, and that's why you don't see him on the 1873 atlas. He had Maurath relatives in Ridge Prairie - Bethel District and in Millstadt (both in St.Clair County). The name was really botched up in spelling because of their German/French accents. You wouldn't believe some of the ways is was spelled. Anyhow, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know which Church a Catholic family from Fosterburg would have attended in 1840. Thanks again so very much.
