Hello List, I missed the original e-mail concerning the prison. I just wanted to share with you my experience with getting prison records. My ggrandfather served time in the Oklahoma State Prison. I contacted the OKDOC and requested the records. 7 days later, I received a copy of his entire file, including his mug shot. I had never seen a picture of him. Included in this package was a copy of finger prints, court dates, time served dates and what exactly happened in his own words. Most importantly though, was a list of just about every living relative, their current address at the time, his birthdate, birthplace and a physical description. I got tons of genealogical information from this prison record. I hope this can help someone. This prison record was from the mid 1930's and in OK. I know that years and states can be different but it is worth a try.
