Deborah, Way to go!!!! That is one of the cool things about the Internet. It brings distant cousins' together. I have met numerous cousins over the Internet that I would never have met before. bbs@midkan.net from the Jayhawk state, Adam -----Original Message----- From: Deborah Plegge <dplegg01@mail.win.org> To: ILMADISO-L@rootsweb.com <ILMADISO-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, June 01, 1999 8:09 PM Subject: Family find I just wanted the list to know how I found my family. In 1998 Feb. I started looking for my family roots in Lengerich, where my gggrandfather was reported to have been born. With the information that I had, I then wrote to 3 families that had our surname. Using the Germany phone book I chose only male names, so I would not write to a possible widow. To my surprise I received two replies, both very interested in helping me find OUR family roots. After 16 months of digging through the church records they found that we did have a common father, 7 generations removed. They then chose to come to the states for a vacation on the east coast and this past week I went to met them in person. What a change it is to talk to someone that you have e-mail and snail mailed for the last 16 months. This is a meeting that I will never forget and we have made a date for next year for me to visit with them. You may try what I tried , and hope you have the same great results. ==== ILMADISO Mailing List ==== The RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative is supported by its users: RootsWeb would cease to exist if not for the support of folks like you.
