Kicks Off 2nd Annual Membership Drive The Downtown Collinsville, Inc. office is humming with excitement as their 2nd annual membership drive kicks into full swing in April and May. The Membership Committee plans to repeat last year's success in attracting new residential and business members in addition to the continued support of current members. Chairperson, Carole Leone of Collinsville reports "I am thrilled that we already have members renewing their membership in DCI and reminder forms aren't even in the mail yet. We had such an overwhelming response to our membership drive last year, we're expecting even more members to join in the fun and help us move forward this year. Our downtown is a major element that differentiates us from other communities. The health of our downtown reflects the people who live in Collinsville and the businesses that locate here. It just makes sense to invest and be involved in the heart of your community." Roland Bauer and Bob Herr repeat Carole's sentiments. Mr. Bauer is longtime Collinsville resident and an individual member of Downtown Collinsville, Inc. He stated "I enjoyed a long involvement with Downtown Collinsville. I watched it grow and then decline. I feel strongly that the Downtown area is an integral part of our community and that DCI is certainly trying to find real solutions to upgrading the appearance of Downtown and attracting new businesses to the area." Bob Herr of Herr Funeral Home says, "It is important to have a voice for the Downtown area. DCI provides a vehicle that lets creative thinkers from city government, the community and businesses unite and come up with collective solutions. DCI brings us together as one person and we achieve much more than any of us would alone." Both are renewing their membership. A massive mailing campaign is now underway to continue the momentum that has characterized popular support of the downtown revitalization efforts of the various committees of Downtown Collinsville, Inc. Collinsville was one of the earliest participants in the Main Street program, which operates under the auspices of the Illinois Lt. Governor's Office. The program has proved popular nationwide due in large part to its emphasis on partnerships between local government, business and community participants who seek common sense and incremental plans to revitalize the downtown area of communities like Collinsville.
