William D. SMITH (b cir 1824) and Catherine McKAY WINNING SMITH (b cir 1820) immigrated from Glasgow Scotland area around 1850 to Alton, IL. Two sons from Catherine's first marriage, James D. WINNING and Robert WINNING immigrated in the 1860s and also initially settled around Alton. William and Catherine SMITH had at least 2 more children, probably girls born in the US. William SMITH was killed in a coal mining accident in Collinsville, date unknown but probably 1870s. Believe that Catherine SMITH moved to Brighton and/or Litchfield after his death. Looking for any leads to help me determine when William Smith died and where he is buried. Also names and information on any children of William & Catherine Smith. Georgann Winning Darrow
