Kathy, I received more info on the Mersingers from my aunt. Frederick Clement Mersinger married Anna Bugger. Their children were John J., Phillip, Barbara, Valentine, Adam (my great grandfather) Caroline who was called Lena, and Rose who became a Carmilite nun, Sister Mary Joseph. Frederick Clement Mersinger was one of the children of Johann Mersinger and Phillipine Wagner//Schroeder. Now here's the good part. Phillipine was a princess, directly related to King Frederick I, of the Prussian dynasty. The story goes that Phillipine was hidden in the forest by a gardener and his wife during one of the revolutions. We believe her last name was Wagner but cemetery records list her maiden name and Schroeder. She may have taken the gardener's last name at one time to protect her identity. So far as I can determine this sort of checks out. PhilippineCharolette was one of 10 children of King Frederick I , so Philippine Wagner Mersinger was one of their children or grand children. This is a story which has been passed down for generations in our family. I am doing more research. signed Nancy B. e-mail ponypal@earthlink.net
