This is what appears on the 1880 Polk County (Des Moines), IA census: DOYLE, Mary Jane age 26 (about 1854) born in Missouri DOYLE, Mary Jane age 6 (about 1874) born in Missouri (Mary Jane's daughter) DOYLE, Nelly age 4 (about 1876) born in Missouri (Mary Jane's daughter) DOYLE, Joseph age 2 (about 1878) born in Missouri (Mary Jane's son) NICHOL, Mary age 46 (about 1834) born in Ireland (Mary Jane's mother) Between 1878 and 1880 Mary Jane's husband died -- no name yet. Also, her father (Alex) has died. Her mother's maiden name is Greece. Did some looking up on the 1860 and 1870 census for Missouri, but no luck yet. In the early 1900's the family was in the Madison County, IL / St. Louis, MO area.
