Frank, This is a shot in the dark. My Brunner family came from Germany in 1852 through New Orleans. I have that a Eva Brunner married a Matt Gopfert and she died in White Oak, Ohio. The name is so close to yours I thought my spelling could be wrong. I only know that the Brunner's were from the Landau-on-the-Rhine Bavaria. Southern Germany. I don't know anything else about Eva except her parents and siblings names. Our Brunner family settled in Kansas City, MO. Gail
Gail, There are many variations in the spelling of Göppert/Geppert/Goeppert. I have found some germany data bases that spelled the surname all three different ways in the same family. The MILAN passenger list just spelled it Goppert without the umlaut. GERMANS TO AMERICA spelled it Coppert. As all records were handwritten at that time, it would be easy for the recorder to write what he thought he saw or heard. I am leaning toward someone who probably stayed in the St. Louis area.
