    3. Sharleen My error on the street. It's Pearl that I believe runs on the lower side (no entrance though) of the cemetery. The military burials and the citizens ground (paupers graves) are down on that lower side. Most of the citizens ground burials don't have markers but the records of the burials are in the cemetery records. That's how I discovered where my gr-gr-grandparents are buried - both without markers and about 30 graves from each other. I went to Map Quest to verify that it is Pearl, which it is. However, Map Quest has the cemetery identified as Grandview. Interesting since I don't think anyone refers to it as such for the past 20 or 30 years. I know that when I first saw it in an obit I had to ask around. A lot of the people I asked had lived in Alton all their life and had never heard of the place. Thanks for getting me straight. I've been researching on the computer and in the library for about a month now for almost every waking hour and I think it's got my brain sleeping.
