I may or may not have Lithuanian ties -- my father always said his ancestors came from Prussia, and I am wondering if Prussia may not have been part of what are now the Balkan states in the early 1800's and earlier. Family name was Savitz, and in the 1890s the Savitz brothers operated a coal mine in Madison Co (You can find info at the site of the O'Fallon Historical Society: Coal Mines of the Area, http://www.ofallonhistory.org/histgory/centennial/cencoal.shtml. on that one and lots of others. The Savitzes also settled in Pa, the Philadelphia area I think, but can't find much on them there, at least on my ancestors. I did not see that name in your list, nor did I recognize any of your names. Hope that helps. Sallie Garlington -------------- Original message -------------- > hello group!
