    3. Any Good Samaritan's Out There? The surname I am dealing with is Kelahan, from the Granite City area. I have been told that my great grandfather, John R. Kelahan was the 1st President of the Park Board and helped in the building of Wilson Park as well as St. Elizabeth's Hospital. He also owned an electrical company, Peerless, which gave light to such items as City Hall, the High School, Washington Theater and "The White Way" on 19th street. Co-owner in the electric company was his son Joseph R. Kelahan. After they lost the electric company during the depression, Joseph went on to the Shell Oil Refinery in Woodriver becoming a leader in the local union and on to a position of arbiter for the A.F. of L. across the US. What I would be interested in is any newspaper articles, pictures, or information about John & Joe's involvements in Granite City or Shell Oil. I am more than willing to reimburse for time spent and copies. I live near Buffalo, NY so it is extremely difficult to spend time in Madison Cty., IL to find this information. I am also a member of the board of the Niagara County, NY Genealogical Society so I can perform any reciprocal work if anyone has questions on ties in this area. Thanks in advance for any activity on these subjects. Laura J. Kelahan 172 High Street #4 Lockport, NY 14094 (716) 434-8556 [email protected] PS I just sent last week my membership application to the Madison County Society. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
