Hello List, I subsrcribed to the list because I have questions. Gee, go figure LOL Armstrong Standard Service Station on Central Ave. We are looking for info on the Armstrong line that owned it. My husbands elderly Uncle Paul Keller remembers an Aunt Lela Armstrong who's husband owned this service station. He also remembers an Aunt Lela Gottlob who owned a grocery store on the corner of Sula and Washington. Lela was married to William Gottlob. Anyone know of either store or families? Also, my husbands mother and sisters were in the Catholic Childrens Home for awhile in Alton. Does anyone know if it's still an orphanage and if so are there still records that can be looked into?
