    3. First, apologies. I accidently hit the wrong button and may have sent a blank message to the list. I need to find out who I can contact concerning the Sugar Creek Cemetery in Helvetia Township. I was there two summers ago and photographed the tombstone of an ancestor's wife. The stone was broken and just leaning against a tree or something. A month or so after I visited the cemetery, somebody posted a list of the graves on the Illinois Trails web site. The stone that I found was not included. I tried to contact the submitter, but received no reply. Recently I've been corresponding with a descendant of the woman whose stone I photographed. I'm wondering if the stone is still there, or what happened to it. I believe the cemetery was being maintained by members of the Madison County Genealogical Society. Please help. This is very important. Thanks! Nancy __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Sports - sign up for Fantasy Baseball http://sports.yahoo.com

    3. Nancy The person who did the research at Sugar Creek Cemetery did only a stone by stone reading and only for those that were legible at the time. I figure that he probably did it in a rush of some sort but had good intentions. I also know that there are probably many graves for which there is no stone. A diary kept by E E Morgan who lived in that area during the mid-1800's makes mention of people who died from the St. Rose IL area and where they were buried. I suspect that several mentioned do not have markers and probably never did. Debbi Geer __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
