I agree, there is something wrong with both the 1870 and 1850 Census for Madison County, IL I have had similar problems with both. Forinstance, On the 1850 Census I was In 6N Range 10, and it kept switching into 6N Range 9 unstead, and it does the same thing in the 1870 Census. It makes it very hard to look up the Godfrey Township, which is 6N. Range 10.
