    1. Silas Sweet and Mercy Sweet

    3. Does anyone have access to records for Madison County that may help me solve some important mysteries? These folks are "highly likely" to be my link to the Mayflower as well as a Revolutionary War veteran. Silas Sweet was born in Vermont or Massachusetts about 1777. He lived in Bradford, Orange County, Vermont and also Bristol County, Massachusetts where he married Mercy White. They moved to Illinois about 1838. Silas' household is found in the 1845 census in Madison County. Mercy and some of the children are found in Madison County in 1850 but no Silas. By the 1860 census, no Mercy Sweet. Mercy Sweet was born August 20, 1794 in Massachusetts. We "believe" these to be their children and spouses: Emmeline Sweet 1820 - 1871 +John Nicolaus Tatch 1813 - 1859 *2nd Husband of Emmeline Sweet: +John B. Scheffler Mary B. Sweet 1822 - after 1860 +John S. Stewart 1810 - after 1880 (found in Washington & California) Lafayette Sweet 1825 - 1901 +Mary Cooper Moore 1820 - 1911 Eliza Sweet 1826 - (between 1867-1870) +William Smith 1799 - (between 1860-1867) *2nd Husband of Eliza Sweet: +Obediah Mize - 1870 Maria Sweet 1827 - (not found after 1850 census, no record that she married) Lydia Ann Sweet 1830 - after 1900 in California +Alexander Camp 1823 - after 1880 in California Benjamin Sweet 1832 - 1893 +Malissa Jane Ridenour 1841 - 1905 Andrew Sweet 1833 - after 1865 (don't believe he ever married) This family had ties to Macoupin and Montgomery counties but the parents were never found there. Any information would be appreciated but what we really need is probate records for Silas Sweet (died 1845-1850) or Mercy Sweet (died 1850-1860). We also don't know where any of these folks were buried.
