I have found Elizabeths who were Bessie, Liza, Eliza, Beth, Lizzie and so on. And in looking for Margaret, I soon learned you better look for Peggy. and vice versa They could have moved back to Massachusetts. Did you check there? And if they were moving around, honeymooning, perhaps, the census missed them. Rev. Dewey Leon Everts Jr. And I don't know if the census for 1850 is damaged or missing, but I'll just betcha its' unreadable. Most all of them are. --WebTV-Mail-10879-742 Content-Disposition: Inline Content-Type: Message/RFC822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Received: from smtpinvite-3301.bay.webtv.net (209.240.205.169) by storefull-3151.bay.webtv.net with WTV-SMTP; Fri, 4 Feb 2005 16:42:34 -0800 Received: from lists5.rootsweb.com (lists5.rootsweb.com [66.43.18.41]) by smtpinvite-3301.bay.webtv.net (WebTV_Postfix+sws) with ESMTP id E49B8E104 for <Evertshistory@webtv.net>; Fri, 4 Feb 2005 16:42:33 -0800 (PST) Received: (from slist@localhost) by lists5.rootsweb.com (8.12.8/8.12.8) id j150ZM8R016557; Fri, 4 Feb 2005 17:35:22 -0700 Resent-Date: Fri, 4 Feb 2005 17:35:22 -0700 X-Original-Sender: gtskjs@mvn.net Fri Feb 4 17:35:22 2005 Message-ID: <001501c50b1a$97d12ad0$f3a9e842@DFHK9921> From: "Karen" <gtskjs@mvn.net> Old-To: <ILMADISO-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Fri, 4 Feb 2005 18:35:24 -0600 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1409 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2800.1409 X-IMAIL-SPAM-VALHELO: (14cf2342019c0e8a) X-RBL-Warning: SPAMHEADERS: This E-mail has headers consistent with spam [4000080e]. Eliza Sweet married William Smith April 4, 1849 in Madison County, Illinois. I can't find them in the 1850 census. Eliza's mother, Mercy Sweet, is in Omnighent Twp. Eliza's brothers Lafayette & Andrew are nearby in Macoupin County. Eliza was born about 1826 in Vermont and William Smith was born about 1799 in Massachusetts. The oldest child in the household in 1860 was born about 1853. Both William and Eliza had ties to Massachusetts, Eliza's two sisters had probably remained behind in Bristol County, Massachusetts and moved to Illinois after the rest of the family. Because of his age, William may have had children before he married Eliza. Any clues about where they could have been in 1850? Is some of the Madison County 1850 census damaged or missing?
