    3. I find a (1850 Census) living with a David Woolet (NY) wife Laura(KY) Name: Joseph Sweet Age: 87 Estimated birth year: abt 1763 Birth place: Rhode Island Gender: Male Home in 1850 (City,County,State): Between Macoupin and Apple Creeks, Greene, Illinois Page: 68 Roll: M432_108 1840 age 50-60 Name: Silas Sweet Township: Taylors County: Greene State: Illinois Roll: 60 Page: 74 1830 Name: Sweet, Silas Township: Dover County: Dutchess State: New York Year: 1830 Roll: 104 Page: 223 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karen" <gtskjs@mvn.net> To: <ILMADISO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 03, 2005 1:21 PM Subject: [ILMADISO-L] Silas Sweet and Mercy Sweet > Does anyone have access to records for Madison County that may help me solve some important mysteries? These folks are "highly likely" to be my link to the Mayflower as well as a Revolutionary War veteran. Silas Sweet was born in Vermont or Massachusetts about 1777. He lived in Bradford, Orange County, Vermont and also Bristol County, Massachusetts where he married Mercy White. They moved to Illinois about 1838. Silas' household is found in the 1845 census in Madison County. Mercy and some of the children are found in Madison County in 1850 but no Silas. By the 1860 census, no Mercy Sweet. Mercy Sweet was born August 20, 1794 in Massachusetts. 3. Thanks. I hadn't seen the actual 1840 census but with the numbers you provided I could access the image on HeritageQuest. The members of the household are an exact match to who I thought should be there. That's very reassuring. I'll keep the other information around although right now it doesn't look like they match. You never know.
