Given under my hand and seal, this 1st day of May A.D. 1851 James A. Keans (L.P.) Can someone help me as to who James A. Keans is and what L. P. stands for? Both Patrick and Mary are of the Catholic faith and Mary's brother was Father Michael Carroll of Alton Illinois. Might there be records of this marriage in the Catholic Church? How can I find out?
