    3. I also ran across thL.P. behind the officiant's name on a marriage - it stands for Local Preacher. There is a handy book aimed at genies packed full of legal terms, phrases, and abbrebiations that researchers come across, and from which this information came, titled From A to Zax: A Comprehensive Dictionary for Genealogists & Historians by Barbara Jean Evans. My 3rd edition was written 1995. Hearthside Press in Alexandria, VA is the publisher (a web search should pull them up if interested).
