    2. I too am from Granite City and working on the Koenig line. My great-grandfather was a circuit preacher in several places in Madison County. He was a preacher for the German Methodist Church and maybe I can get some info from some of the places he's been assigned. I will send info later of what cities he was assigned Arlene Koenig Boner

    2. I think your wonderful for taking on such a task. My whole family comes from Madison Co. (granite city) and I am looking forward to working with others on such a great idea. I live in California and went back a few years ago to the court house and a few cemeteries and the library there is St. Louis....never enough time to finish all you start. I am working on the Westbrook line and I do have some things I can offer to the web site. I will begin to start submitting items this next coming week. Again, thank you for all you are doing and the work ahead of you. Sherri Westbrook Buys

    3. Hello... Help! PLEASE. Looking for info on BELLE MARTIN who married Luther PROFFER,1920. Her husband Luther was killed [shot] by his nephew John Proffer Jr, in 1937. I have newspaper info concerning his death and the circumstances surrounding it, but can't locate anything on BELLE, she is not mentioned in the newspaper info. What little info I have on her is that after her husband's death she became so distraught she had to be hospitalized and during that time her children were placed in foster care. Later she got all of them back but 2 sons, "Leroy & Robert"...... I'm "assuming" BELLE remarried as she would have been in her early 30's when her husband died. After she married at 14/15yrs old in Calhoun Co she and her husband Luther moved to Madison Co. Is where they were living when he was killed. Her mother was Lizzie Thomas-MARTIN. BELLE lived mostly [till she married] with her aunt Abbie Boyer and uncle Walter Boyer of Hardin, shown living with them in the 1920 census. R. 3. hello group! I am new here... so I thought I'd send out a general email! I am interested in this area also ... my great grandparents immigrated from Lithuania and settled in PA for the first few years. They later moved to Madison. William Yakstis worked the coal mines and once his sons were old enough, they too worked the coal mines. I'm curious is anyone else has Lithuanian ties to this area. I am interested to here about this ethnic group to this area and what coal mines were actually active during this time. I have read a lot on the coal mines in northern Illinois and even southern illinois... However, information on Madison County is limited. 2. Lorraine Newsome
    3. Good evening, I would like to announce that I am the new CC for the Madison County, ILGenWEb. The new entry page is located at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmadiso/index.html I am "hungry" for submissions and will consider anything to ad to the site. I'd like to get this site moving, since it appears that it's been rather dormant for quite a while. I've already been getting some great military photos and will be building a Military section. I would also like to add a Cemetery section, also. We can put up "mystery photos", a couple of cemetery photos, transcriptions of wills, deeds, obits, and the ever popular Queries!!! All suggestions are welcome, and I will answer any questions you have. Please keep in mind, that I don't actually live in the county, and can't do any personal research for you, even though I wish I could. Please contact me before sending any attachments, as I will delete them unless I know they are coming in advance. Thanks, and happy hunting!! Lorraine Newsome CC Madison County, ILGenWeb

    1. Obit of Etta Everts or Henrietta Everts
    2. Dewey Everts
    3. Died in New Douglas, Illinois on February 15, 1960. Date may also be Feb 3rd, not sure anymore. Never-the-less-she is buried in New Douglas Cemetery next to John Everts. Etta is my Grandmother who raised me from childhood and is the last obit of the immediate family that I need to close the journal; with the possible exception of Zachariah Brehm, Lake Tahoe died in Arroyo Grande California in knife fight and Johnathan Ryan Everts, details of death unknown except that he died playing baseball when he was 17 years old.. These last two men are my great nephews. I am terminal and would like to finish my project before I go home. I just spent 6 days in the hospital. Surely someone out there on the web site knows these 3 people. I cannot get the info from the funeral homes or the newspapers, or the family members who have all the information and won't release it to me. Rev. 1. Andrew S Miller - Illinois
    2. Looking for some information on Andrew S MILLER.....to help find leads on this family. Andrew was born in 1838 Illinois. His parents were Washington MILLER (1815 KY) and Julia SMITH (1820 NY). They married in 1837 St Louis, MO and lived in Alton, Madison, Illinois until about 1875. There is an A.S. MILLER listed in the Alton 1866 Directory....maybe it's him (Washington T Miller is also listed). Andrew is in 1850 Alton Census in Washington's home....I'm not sure where he was in 1860 (and I don't have Ancestry.com subscription anymore)....1870 has grandchildren Henry (1859) and Cora (1862) MILLER living with Washington MILLER in Alton and in Chicago/1880. Since Andrew's siblings are all female (Julia Ann, Ruth, Sarah), I ASSUME the grandkids are Andrew's (because of surname)....I SUSPECT Andrew died in the civil war (I see some Andrew MILLERs in hits on Civil War lists, but don't if any of them are indeed him). Hoping to find info on him that might lead to more info on parents (my MILLER and SMITH branches are stuck right now at Washington and Julia). Pete Hanson Cromwell, CT
