Can anyone tell me if there is a way to access the 1865 State Census for Madison Co., IL online, or does someone have access to it that could do a lookup for me, In reading on the internet, it appears that there is an index to this census, but the lookups are restricted to Illinois residents only. I know that I can probably get the film from a family history center, but the nearest one is 100 miles from my home. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks Stan Howen
Am interested in information on the people that are buried at Vaughn Hill Cemetery and the families that lived in the area in the early 1800's. Could also use information on the church and meeting house that were there and the legal description of the size of the cemetery. I am very interested in preserving the cemetery and information on the early settlers. Thanking you for any assistance you might be. Judy

I am new to this list and would like to request any information that is available for the Edwardsville, Illinois Tuxhorn family. I have been to Edwardsville and collected lots of information on the family. I would really like to contact any descendent of that Edwardsville family or any Tuxhorn family member that may read this email. Our annual Tuxhorn reunion is coming up in three weeks and I would really like to contact someone. Please email on or off the list. Thanks. Linda lwhgeneo@aol.com

Hi List, You are invited to attend a free genealogy class at St. Louis Public Library. The class, "Their Old Kentucky Home: Researching Your Kentucky (and Tennessee) Ancestors" will focus on using census, land, military, vital, and other records to find those sometimes elusive folks, many of whom later came to Missouri. The class is scheduled for Saturday, October 16 from 10AM to Noon; Meeting Room 1, Central Library, 1301 Olive Street, downtown St. Louis. Parking is free. You do not need to have a St. Louis Public Library card or be a city resident to attend. Registration is strongly suggested. Please call (314)539-0385 or email me at mailto:ksmith@slpl.lib.mo.us for registration or further information. Hope to see you there! Sincerely, Kathleen J. It appears that quite a few of my collateral ancestors are buried in the Bartlett Cemetery near Edwardsville, the eldest of them probably being Joseph Bartlett (1775-1864). I've seen this cemetery described as being on the "old Bartlett homestead," which I take to be Joseph's home. Can anyone tell me if there's been a transcription of the tombstones in this cemetery and, if there has, where I might locate a copy of it? Thanks in advance for your help. There is an excellent image of the Piasa Building for sale on e-bay (item 2273460799). Is there someone on the list that knows where this building is situated? One of the shops is Mather's stationary shop. It seems to me from the location of Mather's that this view is on Piasa St. with Broadway (2nd St.) to the right and 3rd St to the left of the image. Can someone confirm this? Dick Neumann
Thank you for your response. I guess you might be working with the funeral home..or not? I am searching for all the information I can get on Gottfried Siglock who died in Alton on January 17, 1939 and was buried 2 days later in Upper Alton Cemetery (Oakwood). I am trying to clarify the connections of three family members with that last name in my family. I would appreciate anyone's assistance. Dora How about Gottlieb Frederick Sigloch who died in Alton on January 17 1939? Sounds correct to me. Rev. Everts
The Illinois vitals shows no Gottfried Siglock. It shows a Lawrence Siglock who died in Alton and Martin in Edwardsville as I recall. I usually can find death records from the SOS office through Barb Heflin. Have you tried? Rev. Everts
