Try looking up there Obituaries out of the "Granite City Press Record" for that time. My family, I thought, lived in Granite City around that time, but their obits said they resided in E. St. Louis. The Granite City Library carries quite a few of the old newspapers. Hello: Although my mother's family lived in or near East St. Louis at the turn of the century, I've been unable to locate St. Clair County evidence of marriages or deaths for the following individuals, and wonder if the events occurred in Madison County, rather than St. Clair. The events were: 1901/02 death of William Stone, age 72; 1897 marriage of Julia Stone and John Montgomery; 1902 death of Julia Montgomery, age 32; 1917/18 marriage between Edna J. Montgomery (or Stopke) and Augustus Sleme; and 1926 death of Matilda J. Montgomery, age 94. Any assistance or suggestions were be appreciated. Seasons Greetings. Tom Davis

I am researching the Watsons in Madison and Bond Co. James R. WATSON is listed in the 1820 and 1830 Madison Co. census. I was wondering if any of you had the 1810 and 1840, and if so, would you please check and see if he was listed on those census. Joab WATSON is also on the 1830 Madison Co. census living next door to James R. Joab is on the 1840 Bond Co. census. Joab married Elizabeth ROBINSON 5/27/1828 in Bond Co. IL. Is anyone researching these Watsons? Hello out there: I am still trying to locate any descendants of Amelia Gotcher Sanford. Her daughters listed on her obit were: Mrs. Roy (Gertrude) Boudoruis, Mrs. John (Dixie) Zurich and Mrs. Harry (Frieda) Horwich. All of these listed were in Collinsville. Any information or descendants of any of these people greatly appreciated. Clyde <gotcher@ktis.net> Hermann, MO
Does anyone have the census for 1800, 1810,1820 and 1840 in Madison Co. IL. My ancestor James R. WATSON was living there in 1820 and 1830. His son Joab was also on the 1830 census. I would also like to know if anyone has a source for Wills of Madison Co. I'm not sure of the actual date of death, and I need to see if he was still alive on the 1840 census. Any help would be appreciated. This is to support Yvonne's plea for contributions to Rootsweb. One of the rewards she did not mention - as a subscriber you will feel better every time you use it! I felt very guilty about all the wonderful things I found there, but it was one of those things I was going to "get around to" someday. Finally did it and now feel like I "belong" and wish all the rest of you would too. This is an incredible resource and I think that if you did not have access to it without "paying" (and those of you who belong to Ancestry know what I mean) you would gladly pay $25.00 per year for this. Happy Holidays to all!! -- Mike Williams
I'm looking for any information on Lucy Thompson, born ca 1805, married near Edwardsville to William Royal Bartlett in 1820. They had at least 11 children before he died in 1843. She remarried in 1849 to Squire Bennett and left for Oregon the next year with her two youngest children. I am specifically looking for any info on her parents and siblings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ed Bartlett
