    1. BURGESS Family
    2. Looking for any information on my great-great-grandfather, JOHN BURGESS, who was living in Collinsville, Illinois in 1893 when his daughter, Elizabeth, was born (my great-grandmother). Elizabeth married Dominic Molinari and moved to Highwood, Illinois prior to 1925. John and his wife also had a daughter named Carrie who lived in Tovey, Illinois. There were also at least two sons, who I do not have any names on. I believe some of the Burgess familiy may have been living Missouri around 1962. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 3. I understand there are two Wood River massacre monuments. One put up in 1910, the other in 1980. The only directions I have are for the second. It's off Route 140 just west of Route 111, opposite the main entrance to the Gordon Moore Park. This information is from the article "The Wood River Massacre" published in the Illinois Magazine, July-August 1981, pp. 21-30, 49. I found the article in the Wood River Public Library phamplet file. 2. Some time ago in this forum, a book, "Moores of Madison County," by Earl Moore was mentioned. I do not live in the area but will be visiting the area later this month. Is there a central library or genealogical research site that has this volume? If so, where is it and how would I get there from Granite City where I will be staying? Secondly, an event, the massacre of Wood River in 1814 has been mentioned also. I am interested in finding the location of that event and taking a photo of the plaque in Madison Co. Can some one help me with directions? Thanks Paul Moore PDMoore52@aol.com

    1. COCKRELL FAMILY
    2. Gregory Myers
    3. Seeking any additional info and help on the following ..... THANK YOU. Per the 1880 Census for Madison County, IL (Chouteau Township) NATHAN COCKRELL was born about 1838 somewhere in Illinois, his father was born in VA and mother ??. Nathan's wife was SARAH who was born about 1848 in IL and father was from NJ and mother Germany. On this census she is listed as being the cousin of William Wormer/Warmer who was the head of the household. NATHAN and SARAH COCKRELL had the following children: 1. TILTON COCKRELL (B. 1869 in IL; D. 31 AUG 1913 in St. James, Phelps County, MO, and is burried in Flatgrove Cemetery). TILTON on 01 MAR 1894 in St. Louis City, MO married MINNIE SNOOK (B. 12 SEP 1873 in MO and D. 05 OCT 1953 in St. James, Phelp County, MO and is burried in Flatgrove Cemetery). TILTON and MINNIE had the following children: i. DAISY MAY COCKRELL (B. 1895 in Phelps County, MO; D. 1937 in Phlps County, MO and is burried in Flatgrove Cemetery). Daisy on 11 OCT 1911 in Phelps County, MO married JOHN ANDREW KELLEY (B. 20 JAN 1890 in Phelps County, MO and D. 27 MAY 1964 in Phelps County, MO and burried in Flat Grove Cemetery). Daisy and John had several children. ii. HARRY TILTON COCKRELL (B. 16 JUN 1897 in Phelps County, MO and D. 09 JUN 1988 in Phelps County, MO, burried in Flatgrove Cemetery). 2. MASON COCKRELL (B. about 1872 in IL; D. ) 3. SYLVESTER COCKRELL (B. about 1878 in IL; D. ) Then on the 1910 Missouri Census for St. Louis City it shows Sarah as widowed (indicating NATHAN COCKRELL passed away between 1884 (the birth of his last child) and 1910 probably in IL or MO). This census also shows Sarah had 6 children and 5 surviving as of 1910. This census also indicates the additional following children: 4. MARY R. COCKRELL (B. about 1881 in IL; D. ) 5. JACOB COCKRELL (B. about 1884 in IL; D. ) Also visit my Genealogy Site at http://members.tripod.com/~gregorymyers/index.html

    3. Is anybody else have the following people? This is what appears on the 1880 Polk County (Des Moines), IA census: DOYLE, Mary Jane age 26 (about 1854) born in Missouri DOYLE, Mary Jane age 6 (about 1874) born in Missouri (Mary Jane's daughter) DOYLE, Nelly age 4 (about 1876) born in Missouri (Mary Jane's daughter) DOYLE, Joseph age 2 (about 1878) born in Missouri (Mary Jane's son) NICHOL, Mary age 46 (about 1834) born in Ireland (Mary Jane's mother) Between 1878 and 1880 Mary Jane's husband died -- no name yet. Also, her father (Alex) has died. Her mother's maiden name is Greece. Did some looking up on the 1860 and 1870 census for Missouri, but no luck yet. In the early 1900's the family was in the Madison County, IL / St. Louis, MO area.
