    3. This is for Jlane who wrote about having booklet and list of marriages. My grandparents lived in the Alton area for a number of years after their marriage, as several of their children were born there. Later they moved to Jerseyville. As yet I have not been able to ascertain anything on them but that they both died in Fidelity. I would be so grateful if you could find anything on my grandparents, who were both born in Ireland (where ?), and I have heard that Ellen migrated in 1869, and married about 1871, but this is just hearsay with no proof of such. I believe these dates were only arrived at by the number of children born prior to William S. Powers birth date. If you do any look ups for me I am certainly willing to pay all costs, and for your time. Thanks for reading this. Janet Giessman E-mail jmgiess@gate.net Names: WALTER POWERS and ELLEN McCARTHY POWERS Children: John J. Powers Naomi Powers Nellie Powers, married T.C. Maloney William S. 2. Jim Sprengel
    3. Some time ago, there were several queries wanting to know where they could find the book, "The Moores of Madison County" by Earl Moore. I have recently found one place where the book can be found. It is the Madison County HISTORICAL Society Library, 715 N. Main Street, Edwardsville, IL 62025. Their hours are 9-4 on W-Th-F and 1-4 on Sunday. Telephone # is 618/656-7562. They suggest that you call first so that they can have it ready for you. They do have a copier. The book does not circulate. Hope this helps someone. Charlotte

    1. The History of Madison County
    2. I am hoping to find someone who has access to the book The History of Madison County, Illinois. I don't have the title page, I only have one page from this book. What I need is to see if someone can get me the page before and after the one I have. The page I have deals with the family of B.H. Mills ( first name Bartlett) and his family. In the upper left corner of this page I have is the number 423...I don't know if this is the page that this information appears on or not. If you have this book and can copy the pages I need, I'll be more than happy to reimburse for copying charges and postage. Please email me at CWmom4@aol.com Thanks, Vicky Burns Ohio

    1. SMITH- WINNING
    2. William D. SMITH (b cir 1824) and Catherine McKAY WINNING SMITH (b cir 1820) immigrated from Glasgow Scotland area around 1850 to Alton, IL. Two sons from Catherine's first marriage, James D. WINNING and Robert WINNING immigrated in the 1860s and also initially settled around Alton. William and Catherine SMITH had at least 2 more children, probably girls born in the US. William SMITH was killed in a coal mining accident in Collinsville, date unknown but probably 1870s. Believe that Catherine SMITH moved to Brighton and/or Litchfield after his death. Looking for any leads to help me determine when William Smith died and where he is buried. Also names and information on any children of William & Catherine Smith. Georgann Winning Darrow
