    1. RE: LUEKER, WITTE, BERNHARDT surnames
    2. Jon Hofmeister
    3. Good Morning Lori, I have a few of those myself. I am finding that German Lutheran middle names came from the first names of the baptismal sponsers of that person. In general, the baptismal sponser was someone related or at least close to the family. I bet, if you look at the immediate relations of the parents of JBB, you will find that one of them is named Bernhardt. If you find the baptismal records, you will probably also find that there were more than one sponsor and that this person has more than one middle name. 1. ISAAC NEWTON PALMER
    2. Dotte Schneider
    3. Dear "List," Seeking information about ISAAC NEWTON PALMER, born Edwardsville (date of birth unknown) married PAMELIA PARNELL WEBSTER on November 18, 1840. They had a son, MELVILLE MALCOM PALMER, born October 7, 1841. Isaac's wife, Pamelia, died March 28, 1842, and is surely buried somewhere near Edwardsville. It is thought that after the death of his wife, Isaac took his son and went west with his parents, where they raised the child. Any information about Isaac Newton Palmer or his family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! With best wishes, Dotte Schneider

He had brothers of John (10 years older) and twin brothers William & Gideon (8 years younger) so there could easily have been brothers and sisters in between these boys. You do not happen to know the parents of your James do you? The mother of my brothers was Judah but I do not know ther father or her maiden name. She was born in 1795-1800 in VA. 1. Where is Silver Creek?
    2. I found an obit for my ggrandmother, Sarah R. (Kerr) Caulk b 1859, which states that she was "baptized in Silver Creek near Silver Creek Christian Church in 1882" I have been searching forever (seems like) for info on this grandmother. Her parents were Andrew and Amanda (Gillard) Kerr, who must have been in the Silver Creek area and then moved to New Douglas. I know New Douglas is in Madison County, is Silver Creek also in Madison County? Is it a town or a creek? Or both? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Linda Peters

    1. spelling differences in Highland surname
    2. Judith Hepburn
    3. I just got a marriage record from IRAD of the marriage of my great-uncle Adolph Blume in Highland, IL. Only problem is it lists the brides' name as Emma HIDGER, while her father's name is written HEDIGER. She was Highland born and breed so, assuming the name is still present in the area, can anyone from around there tell me which spelling is more likely to be correct? ---------------------- Judith Hepburn hepburnj@bc.edu Boston College
