    3. I don't know that there is a proper way. I printed out a Gedcom copy, wrote up a short history of what I knew about when, where, and how they came to be in Madison County, and included a front sheet with my name and address and e-mail address on it, in case anyone wanted to contact me for more information or to correct misinformation. That is what most of the personally donated files in Madison County Genealogical Society appear to be. Myra Ann Marennad@aol.com wrote: > > I have a question. I think this might be the same person that you referred to. 410 Prospect - Chirstian Hill (circa 1835). The Sparks-Reasoner Home. it was once owned by the first flight surgeon in the US Army. Carol

I have two or three genealogies that are as complete as I think I will ever get them and I want to send them to a local genealogical society near where most of the families lived. So my question is -- is that was is usually done. Also in what matter do I write these up. Just regular forms I have or do I have to write to each society and find out if they have something they want me to use? 3. I think I just made a brakethrough!I have been trying to find out, what happened to the children of my Gr Gr Gr Grandparents after both of them died at an early age in 1872 and 1873.The 7 children disapeared from records for yrs and showed back up when mature in different locations around the country.Only a few in Alton. A new Obituary may shed new light on this situation. The place was Alton, and one of the children died at age 25 of suspected heart failiar. She was living in the home of a Capt. D.R. Sparks. He was mentioned as a witness and his son, Willie in the home in feb 7 1880 at the time of death. Does anyone know who this man was? No will or Information has lead me to find out where these children went after their parents death,My great great grandfather being one of them. This man may have raised this family of children! In the Obit it mentioned all donated money wil go to the rest of the five or six surviving children! I hope I can find who he and his Sparks family was. A Captain must have been someone inportant. Any suggestions? Any Sparks info at all would help. Thanks so much , Tim in Alaska ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    3. Hi List, I have a question that I am almost sure was answered last week. (I think I even made a comment on it myself) LOL... here goes. Is the Streeper Funeral Home now called Elias-Smith? I have gotten records from Elias-Smith but I have just received a death certificate and Streeper & Sons was the funeral home. This is from 1929. Thanks! Kelli

    3. My husband's gg grandfather was Henry Adams, born in PA. He married Mary Clark in St. Clair County, Illinoi in 1853. According to the 1870 and 1880 Madison Co. Ill census, they were living in the Collinsville area. They had children by the names of William Henry (my husband's g grandfather) born June 1859, son Thomas born about 1866-67, twin girls Julia & Mary born about 1870. I feel there were other children older than William Henry because of the year they married 1853 and Wh born in 1859. I haven't been able to look at an 1860 census to see if there were other children. Our William Henry married Martha Ellen Abbott inMadison Co in Feb 1879 at Henry Adams' home. I sure you know that Edwardsville is the county seat for Madison Co. WH & Martha Ellen's first two children were born in Madison Co 1880 and 1881. I don't know if there is a connection between Henry Adams, William Henry and your John or not, but would be interesting to find out, since they lived in the same area. Hope to hear from you soon. 3. Thanks, Patti. I just moved from Belleville, IL, and had used the Madison Genealogical Society a lot. Edwardsville was only an hour's drive from where I lived. Now that I am living in AZ, I really feel at a loss as to how to look things up, especially without paying a lot of money to researchers. I guess I will have to start using the LDS family center in Tucson to get microfilm, etc. Good luck on your hunt. I have been stuck on John E. Williams for well over a year. Something should break soon, or at least some tidbit from another family I'm researching should come up. We can hope. I sent off to the Illinois State Archives to see if they could find a date of death for my great grandparents. They weren't in their index. I finally found out that they had died in Alton and I called the cemetaries. I finally found them. I finally found their date of death. Madison County Courthouse has my great grandmothers dc. 3. One broad search you can do is the Illinois Death Record Index. It is statewide and covers 1916 thorugh 1949 (latest edition). Available by writing or calling the Illinois State Archives, Margaret Cross Norton Building, Capitol Complex, Springfield, Illinois 62756 (217) 782-4682. Search free, they will bill you for copies (very inexpensive). -----Original Message----- From: Myra Best Christeck <mojobuji@azstarnet.com> To: ILMADISO-L@rootsweb.com <ILMADISO-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, September 03, 1999 4:56 PM Subject: Williams/Clifford/Dixon Families >Hi, All, > >After a year off-line and a move to Arizona, I am back to searching for >information on my great-grandfather, John E. 3. Hi, All, After a year off-line and a move to Arizona, I am back to searching for information on my great-grandfather, John E. Williams, and my great-grandmother, Sarah A. Clifford. At least I know more about them now than I did when I last posted. I hope some of this information is familiar to some one: John E. Williams: 1862, son of John D. Williams, married Sarah A. Clifford on April 6th, 1882, in Roodhouse, Greene Co, IL. John's place of birth is unknown, as is his death date, but it had to be between 1896-1928. I suspect the 1928 date is closer. Sarah A. Clifford: 1857, Alton, IL, to John and Lydia B. Clifford, immigrants from England between 1853-1856. Siblings of Sarah are John Clifford, Jr., Charles Clifford, Isabel Clifford, and Mary Clifford. Sarah's parents both died in 1869 and Mary and Sarah were left as wards of a Dixon family in Alton or Upper Alton. The Cliffords and Dixons share plots in Godfrey City Cemetery, so I am assuming there is some relationship between the two families. Does anyone have a connection? Thanks for reading this and for any looking up that you might do. I appreciate any and all efforts on my behalf. Sincerely, Myra Best Christeck

    3. Friends-- I don't have a dog in this fight. However, it seems to me that a few of the comments I have seen in the last couple of days do not qualify as constructive suggestions. Maybe we should remember that most of the work done in organizations like historical societies, genealogy groups (and the many websites that rootsweb sponsors) is carried out by VOLUNTEERS. VOLUNTEERS are people who DONATE their time to help others. The most effective way to make an organization better is to write a check and/or offer to help work to improve the situation. 2. The Madison County Genealogy Society has NOTHING to do with this Madison County, IL site. Any complaints you have about this site should be taken to the administrator/owner of the site. The Madison County Genealogy Society is only one tiny link on this site. Our society has the same information as most other Genealogy Societies on a County site. I've checked, Greene, Macoupin, Montgomery, Edmonson Cty, KY, Douglas Cty, MO, and others. The Societies do not put anything more than information about membership, their library, publications, etc., on their sites. Barbara

    3. Thanks, Victoria! Any promoting of the Jefferson County MOGenWeb is definitely appreciated. I believe we lost a lot of people when the site stagnated and offered nothing new last year. I have totally re-designed and changed the offerings and am working closely with the Jefferson County Genealogical Society, the Jefferson County Historical Society, and the De Soto Public Library in order to make the site a resource for not only genealogical information, but for researching the history of the area as well. We are all working together (rather than against each other) for the researchers. I have plans in the works to cover the history of the area as told by researchers and their ancestors, history and stories of the "Lakes of Jefferson County", "Churches of Jefferson County", photo albums of the people and places of Jefferson County, etc., as well as trying to get more genealogical research information (such as marriages, census, etc.) online. The Cemetery Transcriptions and "Charlotte's Corner" (excerpts from old Jefferson County newspapers) are just the beginning! If anyone has any contributions for the site, please get in touch with me and we'll work out something. Thanks, again, Victoria!
