    3. I thank everyone who responded to my note re my question regarding Arnold Wolf and Eliza Ross. Unfortunately, I've not been able to make any connection with Arnold and other Wolfs (no matter how it's spelled) in the area as of yet. My intent, however, with my original note was to see if anyone knew where the magistrate ("J. Padon., Mg." as it appears on the marriage record) that married them was located. If I can find out in what part of the county or what township that J. PADON lived, then I can do some investigating in that particular part of Madison County. Does anyone else have notations on their ancestors' marriage records that J. PADON performed the marriage? Again, this would be in 1866. Jo House

    3. Hi Pat I forgot to mention in the previous e-mail that my Mary Camp was born on December 25, 1849, in Alton, Madison County, IL. According to family information. I have been trying to look for her parents for a long time, and Laura is the closest I have found to possibly being a match. Of course I could be wrong. My Mary Camp, married John Belger, on July of 1870. and they had two daughters, Laura, and Anna Belger. Laura was born on January 07, 1872, and Anna on December 17, 1874. Both were born in Alton, Madison County too...according to a letter writtne by Anna Belger. I have not been able to find the marraige between John and Mary through IRAD Library in IL.......I, at one time checked out ST. Louis, Missouri too, but found nothing. OH WELL. That's the way it goes. 3. Hi Pat, I wish I knew more about Laura Camp. I recieved her Probate papers through IRAD Illinois Library System. I would assume since it list her kids as heirs, with the last name Camp behind each name that Camp was her married name. But I could be wrong. I hope that she did not have three kids without a husband, but you never know what you might find when your shaking a family tree. But my first guess would be that Camp was Laura's first name. Anyway, Her three children are listed as Henry, Mary and Louis Camp. My interest in Laura is Mary Camp. 2. Hello to all -- An unusual request for information this evening. An ancestor's obituary published in the Terre Haute, Indiana "Tribune", dated Sunday, January 1, 1933 had the following notation -- "---- when his health failed, entered the railroad sanitarium at Highland, Illinois." Would really appreciate any information that anyone might have about this "railroad sanitarium".

    3. I checked the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index 1793-1900 at http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/genealogy/marrsrch.ht ml I didnt find anything for a "Wolf or Wolfe, first name beginning with Mil", but I did find these two items using the bride's name: [format is groom, bride, county, date, book/page/lic#] HAGEY, HARRY HOWARD GRAHAM, SARAH FRANCES WARREN 06/28/1900 E/ 94 WHITE, JOHN GRAHAM, SARAH FRANCIS HENDERSON 12/27/1860 00B/0010 there were a lot of Sarah Graham's, no initial, but none of the groom's names were even close to what you were looking for. If they were in Madison County, IL, you may want to check St Louis City and County in Missouri, also. Just across the river, you know! A lot of folks from Madison & St Clair counties went to St Louis for things such as marriages, naturalizations, etc. Happy hunting! 2. Debbi Geer
    3. Ruth I've got good news and bad news on your Thomas Ham family. First here's the 1880 Madison Co IL (Edwardsville Township) census - Thomas Ham - 29 - laborer - TN TN TN Julia - 24 - wife - IL VA OH William - 10 - son Edward - 6 - son Elizabeth - 4 - daughter Thomas - 3 - son Alice - 2 - daughter Now there was also a Henry Hamm (notice difference in spelling) in Alton city living with the C E Thompson family (wife Nancy, daughter Estella). Henry was listed as a nephew and he and his parents were all born in TN. Since Thomas and his parents were all born in TN it could be that Thomas and Henry are brothers or just a coincidence. If they are brothers, then you'll have to figure out if C E Thompson was the blood relative or Nancy Thompson was the blood relative. Now for the 1900 census - Didn't find any Thomas or Julia Ham/Hamm listed in the index on Family Tree Maker, but..................................... I went down the list and start with A and looked for any family who lived in Madison Co IL. Came across an interesting entry and looked at it. BINGO!!!!!! Evidently Thomas was a middle name because in the 1900 census he's listed as William T Ham. Here's the listing for the family living on Walnut Street in Edwardsville (Edwardsville Township) IL - William T Hamm - b Nov 1851 TN TN TN - day laborer Julia - b Jul 1857 IL VA OH - 11 children 9 living James E - b Nov 1873 IL - day laborer Levi T - b Jan 1877 IL - day laborer Frederick - b Apr 1882 IL - day laborer Rosie Mary - b May 1884 IL Joseph - b Dec 1886 IL Grover C - b Dec 1892 IL If there were still 9 children living, 6 are still at home, leaving William, Elizabeth and Alice to be somewhere possibly with their own families. Also notice the use of the middle name by several in the family. Hope this helps you out. Debbi Geer __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! 3. Thanks,My husbands great grandfather lived in Madison county an raised a large family. His name was Thomas Ham an he married a Julia Dawson also from there. she was the daughter of Caleb Dawson. I am not sure of what census record that I found him in ,living in the Caleb Dawson Household as a farm hand.in the next census he had married Calebs daughter an their oldest son was 10 yearss old.I believe that it was the 1860 and 1870 census,There was several other Ham children listed with them. bur my husbands grandfather wasn;t born till after the 1880 census. At least the Dallas Co. may help me with my Sharp family.I used to have the census records on my other computerbut when it went down everything went with it, Nothing could be retrived fron it. 3. I don't have the 1900 census, I have these names in my personal file. I do have a John Dawson who married a WEbb and had about 8 children, and may have died in Texas, but no info on children. I have a James Sharp who married a Rebecca Blalock Dec 4 1828 They were both of Dallas County Alabama before they married. But have no idea where they married or lived. Rebecca was the d/o Charles Blalock of Texas. No information or dates on James Sharp. 1. RE: [ILMADISO-L] Wolf-Ross
    2. Richard Neumann
    3. There's got to be a lot of Wolfs. I connect with a Wolff who lived in Alton Ill. in the early 1900's. Their daughter in 1930 married a Lee Pilkington. Have you tried this alternative spelling?
