Isn't it Prairietown, IL? Frank
Thank you for your question. The name I am searching is definitely Braasch. I will think about the name "Carrie". It could very well be in the family. I don't know if Elinor has responded or not, but she's probably correct about the surname Braasch spelling. I grew up in Bunker Hill IL just across the Madison-Macoupin Co IL and know there was a Carrie Braasch that lived in Bunker Hill when I was growing up in the 1950's and 1960's. I also recognize the name from the Prairietown area. Debbi __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Tax Center - online filing with TurboTax http://taxes.yahoo.com/

Stan, It looks like no one has replied yet (on-list) to your query. So, I will. Sorry for the delay; I haven't checked my mail in a few days. The home page for the Madison County Gen Society is http://www.plantnet.com/mcgs/ There you will see links to our various projects, including publications, meetings, cemeteries, etc. Notice that on the publications page there are two links, one to society publications and another to member publications. Our next meeting is Thursday, 11 Apr 02 at 7pm. Meetings are held the second Thursday of every month, except July and December, at 7 p.m. at the Immanuel United Methodist Church, 800 N. Main St., Edwardsville, Madison County, IL. (Located across Main Street from the Madison County Historical Museum.) The May meeting is held at the Edwardsville Public Library, 112 S. Kansas St., Edwardsville, IL (just a few blocks to the south). Guests are always welcome! If you're local, WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU THERE. That goes for the rest of you lurkers, as well. This month's speaker is a librarian from a local library, to talk about their holdings. I THINK it's Lou Ann James from the Belleville Public Library, but I don't have my notes with me here at work (sorry). I hope this helps! Larry Wernle 1st VP, MCGS

Dear Listers, I am searching for a record of Louise Antoinette (Von Beesten) SACK in Madison County. She was last shown on the 1850 there, as 60 yrs. I have not been able to find further records of here anywhere. Did she die there? What is the best source of death/burial records for that time? Thanks for any suggestions! Karen
I was asked to give a consensus of the responses I recieved regarding the Germans to America on CD Rom that I requested info on. I posted the question to 3 different Lists, 2 in Illinois & 1 in Iowa, & recieved about two dozen responses, none totally negative, generally people found them worthwhile, however they are not 100% complete, not every passenger is listed. To me it seemed that most people were basically happy with them, but didn't always find who they were looking for. I was also given a link to a site that will do FREE LOOKUPS from these CD's & some different CD's also. Here is the link: http://loricase.com/CDs/cdlist.html I was also asked if they are Mcintosh compatible, but didn't recieve any info on that. Thanks again to all who responded Stan Howen [email protected]
Thank You to all the people who responded to my questions on the Germans to America CD Roms. Stan Howen

Liberty Prairie is at the corner of IL Rte 140 and Rte 159. Gooseville is about 1 miles west of the corner on Rte 140. Paddocks Grove is about 1 mile north of the corner on Rte 159. I've lived in this area my entire life...(almost 60 yrs) and I have never heard the name McKissocks! So I don't think there are any left by that name. Barbara
