Had only a wound on his hand through it all. Very fortunate. Don't have it in my memory what division, etc. he was in, but have record somewhere. He passed away in 1991. PFC Ivan L. 2. Hi, My Great Uncle, Walter F. Hillman was born in Mt Olive, Macoupin Co, IL in 1900. He moved over to Montgomery Co. some time after the death of his mother, Augusta, in 1911, to work in a mine in Nokomis. There he met and married Hazel M. Lockard. Together they had one child, a son, Robert K. Hillman, b. 1924. Robert joined the Army from Christian County, IL. Pfc Robert K. Hillman was shot down on March 5, 1945 in action over Luzon, Philippines. It was 3 1/2 years later, August 18, 1948 when his body was recovered and returned to his parents for burial. He is buried in Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago, between his parents. Being an only child, there is nobody else left to remember Robert [my Mother's cousin], so I ask you all to remember him, today. And my Great Uncle and Aunt, who gave their only child to defend this great country of ours. God Bless Robert K. Hillman and the Unites States of America. Sharon Buethner
