I have a question from a fellow classmate on McVey Rural School, Nilwood Twp. When was it started? History? I have lead her to the Historical Society Library, the regional superintendent's office in Carlinville, the school office in Girard. I don't think that is the answer she may really need. You may want to check the history books written about Macoupin Co. Somewhere I have seen one which listed all the schools at that time or during the county's history with the number given to each. The listed included the country one-room schools as well as those in the communities which are recognized today. I couldn't believe the list as there was close to 200 listed and am sure that some may not have been on it.
