I have wondered if Bertie could be a granddaughter instead of a daughter. And I've also wondered if her name may be Roberta, or Bertha. I've not found obituaries for either Catherine (d. 1884) or Henry (d. 1887). I do have death index copies. I also have a transcription pages of the Brighton cemetery where they are buried, but Bertie does not appear with them. She would have been 12 and 15 when they died, so perhaps she went to live with an older sibling. Unfortunately, without the 1890 census, I'm afraid she will be difficult to find. Have you got or considered getting copies of the obits for the other children of Henry and Catherine? Perhaps one of them will mention her either as a survivor or having predeceased them with the possibility of a married name included. She could even be included if a number of siblings is given as preceding in death. Sometimes this is the only way you know that there was another sibling even if they died between census as an infant or young child.
