Looking for ancestors/descendants of John Hardin Scott and Mary Mountwillow Coonrod. John settled in Pleasant View Twp., Cherokee Co., KS. in 1866, after serving in Co. C, 3rd Illinois Cavalry of Union Army in the Civil War. He was probably from Illinois (I don't know city/county) and in 1868 returned there to marry Mary Mountwillow Coonrod (probably of Greene Co. IL, or neighboring Macoupin Co. to east). Mary was about 17 and daughter of Squire Coonrod. John and Mary Scott lived in Pleasant View Twp. Cherokee Co., KS, moved later Columbus the county seat, and raised a number of children, including my grandmother Etta M. Scott.
