It is my understanding that at some point in the 1870s, IL courthouses began asking for more information on marriage records/applications. I have one from 1884, Macoupin Co., that asks ages, birthplaces, parents' names including mother's maiden name, etc. However, I cannot remember if there is a separate marriage application book or series of books. Perhaps other list members know the answer to this, or a call to the courthouse could provide an answer. Linda Kmiecik tonky@ctnet.net
