    3. Does any one have any information on these two READER listings which I found in the USGenWeb Archives (IL) under "Honor Roll of Veteran Burials Index (Surnames N through R) in Macoupin County IL"? I am trying to determine if they might be related to my READER family which lived primarily in Western Mound Township. The village of READER was named after my great-grandfather George W. READER who sold the land to the railroad for a depot. Here are the entries which I found: READER, Cyrus C , W-1, Pfc , Army, Co M 129 Inf 33 Div , 23 Aug 1951, Woodburn Cemetery Bunker Hill Twp Bunker Hill IL READER, John , C, Pvt , Army, Co. H 121 Ind Inf , 3 Apr 1872, Rural Cemetery Shaws Point Twp Carlinville IL I am also trying to determine who the James READER was who was a grain merchant in Nilwood circa 1880. I am missing information on a James H. READER, brother of my 2G-grandfather Paschal L. READER, listed in our family bible as born in 1823 but nothing else is known about him. There is a curious listing for a marriage license issued to James READER and a Rebecca BOOTH in Macoupin County, but no date is apparent in the index. According to my cousin Sue (Raffurty) McMurry (descendent of James RAFFERTY also of Macoupin Co.) the register book referenced in the index would put the license issue date circa 1872. My grandfather, Ernest READER, always wondered about this (the Nilwood grain dealer) before he passed away in 1981 and it would be nice to clear this up. Thanks for any help on this or any other READER info. Also, FYI, my Dad, siblings and I are the only descendents of George W. READER living today. G.W. passed away in Staunton in 1930. He had three children, Nellie (married Ollie SAWYER, no children), Irvin (married Bessie SHELTON and was South Otter supervisor, but no children), and my grandfather Ernest READER (married a Duluth, MN girl) who only had one child, E. Gordon READER (my Dad). Don Reader St. Louis, MO e-mail: readerd@storz.com
